Reading:  We will conclude our Back to School unit.

Stories: "School Then and Now" and poem "School Bus"

Reading Strategies:  Making connections, Comparing and contrasting, and Inquiry

Sounds: /p/, /l/, /o/, /b/

Language:  Plural nouns

Writing:  Putting words together to form complete sentences 

Summer Reading:  This was due August 31st.  It's come to my attention that not everyone had the reading forms.  If you will write me a note with the names of the two books your child read with you this summer, it will still count.  I would rather this come in late than not at all!

Decodable Books:  I will begin sending home decodables with your child this week.  A note will also come home explaining how to use them.  Each student will get a reading log that will be kept in the clear pocket of their agenda. 

Character Trait Award:  My winner this week was Luke Staab!  Great job being a good friend to others!

Reading Workshop: Many of you have signed up for our workshop, and I am thrilled!  We will meet  in the choir room, which is next to the library in the church building.  We will begin at 7:00 p.m.  See you there!

Bible: Friday, September 10th- John 3:17  "For God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him."  Please practice our verses at home.  They count as a test grade!

Math: This week we will:  divide a solid in half, graph a picture on a pictograph, make sets, and begin writing addition number sentences
