Prior to acceptance, children are administered the Kindergarten Diagnostic Instrument, which helps to determine a child's strengths and weaknesses, as well as overall readiness for a structured program.
Following is a list of elements that comprise the Kindergarten Program:
BIBLE
Bible stories and character builders are taught daily. Memory verses are learned to enhance the stories.

PHONICS
Letter and sound identification are learned during weekly units. Sight words are introduced and mastered. Extensive work is done with rhyming words, opposites, things that go together, and sequencing. Readers are used to challenge decoding of word families.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION
A variety of gross-motor skills are taught during a 30-minute period each week.
|
MATH
Positional Concepts, classification, counting to 100 with number identification and writing, time and money, shapes, ordinal numbers, problem solving, sets, fractions, and simple addition and subtraction concepts are taught.
|
WRITING
Emphasis is placed on developing eye-hand coordination, visual perception and fine motor skills. Correct pencil and crayon hold is stressed. First and last names, letters, words and sentences are written in the latter months of school, following the teaching of correct letter formation.

MUSIC
Instruction in melody and rhythm, using action songs, instruments, piano and recorded music is begun by the elementary music teacher.
