April 30th, our high school softball team earned the right to host TKA (The King's Academy) at our field for the first round of Regions. Freshman, Emma Grace Ward has been strong for the Lady Golden Eagles all year on the mound. She pitched another great game. Sophomore, Mattox Hollingsworth went 4-4 at the plate and one of those was an out of the park home run. Great performances by the outfield, Rebecca Dean, Taylor Adams, and Audrey Bastian making great catches. This was a great game that helped our girls become more confident heading into the semi finals on Thursday, May 2nd. The final score was 13-3, Grace!
April 29th and 30th, Junior, Joel Estes and Sophomore, Taylor Fisher had 2 great days on the tennis courts at the Champions Club in Lupton City. These two gentlemen, defeated Collegedale on Monday, 4/29 to advance to the semi-finals of the District. Tuesday, 4/30 they boys defeated Notre Dame in the semis and Boyd Buchanan in the Championship, naming them the District Champions of doubles! They will head into the Region tournament in 1st place and compete on Thursday, May 2nd. Way to go, boys!
April 29th, our middle school track and field team competed at CCS for the ISC Championship Meet. We had great results from our Golden Eagles:
The entire team placed 3rd overall.
6th grader, Alayah Hines placed 1st in the 100m and 200m dash.
6th grader, Vivian Thompson placed 3rd in the discus throw.
8th grader, Sydney Frees placed 2nd in the 800m dash and 3rd in the long jump.
The girls relay team placed 3rd overall in the 4x100 and 2nd in the 4x200.
They has a successful season overall, with more than one person placing in the top 10 every single meet. We are proud of this group.
April 29th, 2 Sophomores on our high school baseball team were selected to be on the All-District team. Walter Bianco and Kennedy Brewer both have had an outstanding sophomore season. Walter and Kennedy both lead the team in batting average. Walter also holds the school record for most bases stolen. We are proud of these Golden Eagles.
April 26th, we had 3 Juniors on our high school track and field team get selected to participate in the Best of Preps meet at Soddy Dasiy High School. Sam Richards competed in the shot put throw, Sofia Simpson competed in the 400m dash, and Briana Jackson competed in the 100m and 200m dash. We are extremely proud of these student-athletes, as they were selected out of the top 16 in each category.
April 26th, our high school baseball team hosted their last home game on the turf field against RCA. They defeated RCA 10-5, despite being down by 3 going into the 5th inning. Later that week they traveled to Chattanooga Central, where they won an exciting game that had to go into extra innings. The Golden Eagles soared past the Purple Pounders, finishing 13-9.
April 23rd, our high school softball team hosted Notre Dame at home. Freshman, Emma Grace Ward pitched a great game. Senior, Ella Taylor Waldron hit an out of the park home run and fueled the energy for the rest of her team. Our Lady Golden Eagles won, 19-2. Later in that week, our high school girls traveled to CSLA and defeated them on their field, 16-1. This week was great for our girls, because it gave them a boost of confidence into the next week, to get ready for the first round of District.
Monday, April 22 our HS Baseball team defeated RCA. Sophomore, Kennedy Brewer went 2-2 at the plate with a total of 3 RBIS. Sophomore, Walter Bianco went 2-2 at the plate with 2 RBIS. Senior, Ethan Wold went 2-3 at the plate with 1 RBI. Sophomores, Jacob Wold and Noble Lucius pitched. Jacob Wold pitched 3 innings and had 6 strikeouts, 3 walks. Noble Lucius pitched 2 innings and had 5 strikeouts with 0 walks. The final score was 16-3. Way to go, guys!
Monday, April 22 our HS Tennis team traveled to Collegedale. Junior, Joel Estes and Sophomore, Taylor Fisher won in singles and doubles. These two gentlemen have been in the top rankings all season long. We are extremely proud of them!
Friday, April 19th our HS Boys soccer team traveled to Polk County and got the win on the road. Senior, Logan Smith scored 4 goals by himself to help put the Golden Eagles ahead. Congratulations to the the high school boys their win.
Friday, April 19th our HS Baseball team played Tyner High School for their senior night. This game was a double header. The first game's final score was 17-0. The second game's final score was 7-1. This was a great night for our high school baseball team and our seniors. Senior, Wesley Thompson was the star pitcher for the night.
Friday, April 19th Track & Field traveled to Walker Valley. Sophomore, Ethan Dominguez-2nd in 100, 3rd in 200 with a new PR, 6th in long jump. Freshman, Zane Schierling-6th in 800, 9th in both long jump and discuss throw. Sophomore, Caleb Cox-8th in 800 Junior, Sam Richards-1st in shot put with new PR, 4th in discuss throw. Junior, Ryder Jensen-10th in shot put and 7th in discuss throw. Junior, Brianna Jackson-2nd in 100, 1st in triple jump. Junior, Sofia Simpson-2nd in 400. Gabby Adams—6th in 100 and 7th in 200. Girls 4x100 relay-placed 3rd with a new PR!! (Sofia, Gabby, Haleigh, Brianna)
Thursday, April 18th our HS Baseball team defeated Brainerd High School, 20-0. This was a huge win for our team that gave them adrenaline into the next games they had that week. Senior, Brock Passons was the "surprise" pitcher for the game.
Thursday, April 18th our HS Softball team defeated Notre Dame, 12-1. Freshman, Emma Grace Ward was the winning pitcher with 7 strikeouts and no walks. Sophomore, Mattox Hollingsworth went 2 for 2 at the plate. Senior, Cadyn Cahill got a double at the plate. Our girls played extremely hard to gain this win under their belt.
Tuesday, April 16th our HS boys soccer team had a hard fought battle against Silverdale. This was a tight match until the very last minute. Freshman, Hayden Smith and Sophomore, Kai Stafford scored 2 goals for the Golden Eagles. The defense held Silverdale to 0 goals until the 2nd half. The final score was 4-2, Silverdale. We are very proud of our gentlemen. They competed at a high level and showed toughness and resilience.
Saturday, April 13th, our high school baseball team traveled to Chattooga, GA to play a double header. The first game was very competitive and close. This caused the Golden Eagles to go into extra innings, being tied 5-5 for a long period of time. Two Golden Eagles were on 2nd and 3rd base. Freshman, Trey Groce was up to bat with two outs. This was the 7th inning and the Golden Eagles needed to score to close the game. Trey Groce hit an amazing shot that sent two players home, and allowing them to win the game, 7-5. The Golden Eagles also won the second game, 5-0 in just five innings.
Saturday, April 13th, our high school softball team traveled to Decatur, Alabama and played Decatur Heritage for their first match up. Freshman, Emma Grace Ward pitched a perfect game. She threw a no hitter and that is what allowed the Lady Golden Eagles to finish on top. Our softball team won, 9-0. We are very proud of these young ladies.
Monday, April 8 our high school softball team defeated East Ridge on the road to clinch their first win of the season. Freshman, Emma Grace was the winning pitcher with 7 strikeouts and no walks. Sophomore, Mattox Hollingsworth went 2 for 2 at the plate. Senior, Cadyn Cahill had a double that helped put them ahead. We are very proud of our lady Golden Eagles on playing hard to win their first game of the season.
Tuesday, March 19 our high school boys soccer team was the visiting team on Boyd Buchanan's campus. In years past, this match up has always been difficult. However, our boys soccer team's defense was very impressive as they held the game to a score of 0-0 until about 10 minutes left in the first half, giving Boyd 1 point. Start of the second half our team came out strong and still held Boyd to a score of 1-0. Sophomore, taylor Fisher had some incredible saves that allowed us to not trail far behind. Sophomore, Kai Stafford is a great leader for our team. He has excellent footwork that gave him the ability to get past the defenders multiple times to get close to scoring goals. Around the 7 minute mark, Boyd scored another goal, making the score 2-0. Our boys did not give up and they continued to play great defense, holding Boyd to a minimal score. Final score is 2-0.
Tuesday, March 19 our high school baseball team battled against a really good East Hamilton team. At the bottom of the 6th inning, our team was down 3-0. They fought back and tied it up 3-3. Sophomore, Andrew Huggins hit a homerun that allowed our guys to be back in the game. However, the final score ended up being 5-4 and we couldn't quite close the game. Despite the loss, this was a very good game against a much larger school ( 4 A ) than ours and we hung in there and almost pulled out a win.
Tuesday, March 19 our middle school volleyball team were the visitors at GPS for a volleyball match. Our young ladies worked hard to win this match on the road and they clinched their second win of the season. The final score was 2-0. Way to go, girls!
Tuesday, March 19 our high school track and field team competed at Hixson high school for their second track meet of the season. Our entire team did an incredible job, most of them hitting PRs in several events. The standout student-athlete from this event was Junior, Sam Richards. He had a great day in the field events. Same beat the school record of the discuss throw. He now holds the record of 107.5. We are very proud of Sam!
Monday, March 19th our middle school track and field team competed at CCS for their very first meet of the season. What a fun day to start off with some wins under our belt? Our girls relay team placed first. Sixth grader, Alayah Hines won the 100m race. Eighth grader, Sydney Frees was 4th in the 400m race. Sixth grader, Vivian Thompson placed 3rd in shot put and Seventh grader, Jules Lichleiter placed 5th in shot put. Vivian also placed 5th in discuss. Our girls team as a whole placed 3rd out of 10 teams in the meet. We are very proud of these Golden Eagles!
Monday, March 19th our jv and varsity middle school volleyball team defeated the Chattanooga Patriots at home. This was the first win of the season for the varsity team. Our young ladies showed various signs of competitiveness and improvement. We are grateful to our coaching staff for helping them to a victory!
Monday, March 19th our high school tennis team opened their season at Hixson High School. Junior, Joel Estes placed first in the singles match. Sophomore, Taylor Fisher placed second in the singles match also. Both Joel and Taylor placed first in the doubles match! Freshman, Tre Campbell and 8th grader, Evan Bell placed second in the doubles match. It was an exciting day for our tennis team to kick off their season with a few wins!
Monday, March 19th our high school baseball team hosted Howard on our new home field. Our team was down 3-0 in the 7th inning. We were last at bat and we tied it up, 3-3 forcing the game to go into an extra inning. The Golden Eagles held their ground and got 3 outs quickly and then headed to the plate. The Golden Eagles finished strong at the plate, allowing Wesley Thompson who scored our 4th and final point to win the game!
Friday, March 15th our high school baseball team defeated Oakwood Christian Academy in a double header. Not only was this a victory, but it was a combined no hitter. Sophomores Kennedy Brewer, Jacob Wold, and Walter Bianco all did a phenomenal job on the mound. The score of game one was 3-2 and the second game's final score was 13-0. This was an exciting atmosphere for our baseball team to play in, as we had about 150 fans watching.
